As an integrative veterinarian and a UTCVM alumni who treats exotic animals, I feel it is very important to support the healthy trade of reptiles. I found an article written on Healthy Trade Institute in one of my veterinary journals and immediately knew I had to support this organization. I also have a few clients who are unable to keep their beloved pets so the Healthy Trade Adoption Program will be a wonderful asset to Autumn Green Animal Hospital.

Hognose Habit is proud to support the Healthy Trade Institute because we believe that establishing industry-wide standards for biosecurity and routine disease testing benefits everyone involved in herpetoculture. The Healthy Trade Institute promotes good keeping practices, provides robust education on these practices, and creates a system of accountability that ensures certified businesses are adhering to proven standards regarding animal health. In addition to directly benefiting captive animal welfare and preventing the spread of disease to wild populations, this initiative allows buyers to purchase healthy animals with confidence. We hope to see more industry members join the Healthy Trade Institute and contribute to a healthy, sustainable pet trade!
