HTI Nationwide Herp Adoption Program

There are various reasons for being unable to continue to care for a pet amphibian or reptile. The HTI can help by finding your pet a new, safe, and healthy home! Our Herp Adoption Program is now LIVE and actively accepting animals from across the country.

There is no fee for surrendering your pet other than shipping costs to the HTI.  We’re proud to emphasize our partnership with Redline Shipping, which provides detailed shipping guidance to pet owners and an incredible 65% discount on overnight shipping.

The HTI will conduct a professional health assessment of every pet before rehoming them to businesses or individuals. Pets are housed in clean, secure environments with appropriate lighting, heat, and enrichment while they await their forever families.

Currently, the HTI is accepting pet amphibians, bearded dragons, geckos and snakes (≤ 4ft in length and nonvenomous). The HTI cannot accept wild-caught species that are native to the United States, or prohibited species in Tennessee, which includes venomous snakes, crocodiles, and alligators. The HTI also cannot accept any CITES-listed amphibian or reptile species, unless it is captive bred in the US. We do not accept turtles or tortoises.

If you are interested in either surrendering or adopting, please select and fill out one of the forms below.

Fellow Pet Rescues:  If your rescue is over capacity or you do not accept pet reptiles or amphibians, we would love to help!  Please pass our information along to pet owners or you can email us at info@healthytrade.org to discuss how we can take surrendered animals at your center.
