Pet owners who acquire animals from HTI Certified Businesses can report to the HTI cases of illness or death from recent purchases. The HTI will follow-up with the member business to investigate health status of other animals.
To report a case of illness or death (within one week of purchase) of an animal suspected to have disease, please submit information here.
If your animal is deceased, we recommend that you freeze the
animal or put it in a container with 70% ethanol (such as isopropyl
alcohol). The HTI may contact you for further testing. If the business is an HTI
member, we recommend that you contact them and request a refund. The decision
to offer a refund is the prerogative of the business.
