The HTI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to receive tax-deductible charitable donations. To support our mission, you can donate to the HTI as private citizen or as a business.

The HTI offers grants up to $5000 to help businesses with the initial expense of becoming an HTI member and costs associated with the Healthy Trade Certification program, such as testing animals for pathogens. Your donation will go to especially helping smaller businesses with fewer resources and will contribute to making pet amphibians and reptiles healthier in trade!
Your Donation Will Provide:
- Free Membership Fees = valued at $100 – $5000
- Free Pathogen Testing Kits = valued at $200 each
- Free Biosecurity Supplies (gloves, disinfectants) = valued at $10 – $100
The HTI Herp Adoption Program is the first of its kind in the United States! Every year thousands of pet amphibians and reptiles are released into the wild, where they can become invasive species or shed potentially harmful pathogens into the environment. The most ethical and responsible action is to find unwanted pets new homes! Your donation will help the HTI find new homes for unwanted amphibians and reptiles, thereby helping conserve our native biodiversity and support the pet trade!
Your Donation Will Provide:
- Free Health Screening for Adopted Animals = valued at $200
- Free Shipment of Animals from HTI to New Homes = valued at $100
- Free Care for Animals while at HTI = valued at $10 per day
- Free Husbandry Supplies for New Owners = valued at $100 – $500
The HTI is working with university partners to develop and refine methods for healthy care of pet amphibians and reptiles. Some ventures include development of a vaccine for ranaviruses, increasing treatment options for chytridiomycosis, and identifying husbandry conditions that result in healthier animals. Your donation will go to support research in these areas and help facilitate a healthier trade!
