Pathogen Testing
The Healthy Trade Institute (HTI) offers pathogen testing of swab samples for the following reptile and amphibian taxa and pathogens. We can pool up to 3 swab samples to save processing cost.
Sample Submission
Please download and fill out the Excel file corresponding to the type of animal you are submitting samples for. Email completed forms to Danielle Galvin ([email protected]) at least 24 hours before sample submission. Late submission of the intake form may result in delays to sample processing.
All samples should be sent using a next day delivery service to the following address:

Pathogens That the HTI Can Currently Test
- Amphibians = Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), salamandrivorans (Bsal), and ranavirus (Rv).
- Snakes = Cryptosporidium serpentis (Cs) and Ophidiomyces ophiodiicola (Oo)
- Bearded dragons = Agamid adenovirus 1 (AAdv)
Cost for Pooled Samples
- Amphibians: To pool 3 swab samples for Rv, Bd, and Bsal: $60 for 3 samples
- Snakes: To pool 3 swab samples for Oo and Cs: $60 for 3 samples
- Bearded Dragons: To pool 3 swab samples for AAdv:$45 for 3 samples

- $10 DNA extraction (required for all swabs + one or more below)
- $10 Bd qPCR
- $10 Rv qPCR
- $10 Bsal qPCR
- $15 AAdv qPCR
- $15 Oo qPCR
- $15 CS qPCR
